Number of persons

How many people should the acoustic speaker you need be designed for? Here we explain the different types.

A small note on our categorisation: Multiple assignments are possible, i.e. a meeting box for 2-4 people appears under both "2 people" and "4 people".

Acoustic speakers for one person

There are two different types of acoustic speakers for one person:

  • Type Telephone boxFloor space approx. 1 m², working standing up or on a stool
  • Type WorkboxFloor space approx. 1.5m², working while seated

What you should know: Even though both types of acoustic box are designed for one person, so-called "deep work", "focus" or "work" boxes are considerably more expensive than a telephone box, as they are larger and require more material to manufacture. Work boxes require approx. 50% more floor space than a telephone box, and in the case of particularly spacious work boxes even significantly more, which means that the price and floor plan can already end up in the range of four-person meeting boxes.

Acoustic speakers for two people

Acoustic speakers for two people are offered by various manufacturers - these can be roughly categorised into two types:

  • Narrow two-person box: An interior with two seats - i.e. a bench or two stools - is installed on the footprint of a work box for one person.
  • Generously designed two-seater box: The interior with two seats is installed on the footprint of a four-seater meeting box. In terms of price, such a two-seater box is therefore roughly on a par with the four-seater version. Understandably, our customers then usually opt for the interior design with four seats instead of just two.

Acoustic speakers for four people

Acoustic boxes for four people - this traditionally refers to four-person meeting boxes with a table and benches in a relatively compact space of around 3 square metres, although some manufacturers also offer four-person acoustic boxes for meetings and discussions in a standing position. Of all the acoustic box variants available, four-person meeting boxes are the ones with the most flexible usage options - after all, meeting boxes can also be used on their own: either for telephone and video calls or for concentrated, secluded work (at least if this is not planned for hours at a time).

Meeting boxes for four are little all-rounders - so if you are planning to retrofit your office or other work environment with several acoustic boxes, you should definitely plan for enough meeting boxes for four!

Acoustic speakers for six to eight people

The largest acoustic boxes available on the market offer space for six to eight people. If even more space is required, room-in-room systems without their own floor are generally used. With classic, fully enclosed acoustic boxes with their own floor, on the other hand, space is limited to around 8 people at the top.

Typically, acoustic boxes for six to eight people are equipped with a conference table and can be fitted with benches or chairs. Performance parameters such as ventilation or similar logically grow with the size of the acoustic boxes, so that sufficient fresh air is supplied even during labour-intensive meetings.
